Job summary

PBP Services is seeking a Bag Jammer/Manual Encoder to support the baggage handling system at an airport facility. The role involves clearing jams, encoding bags manually, and coordinating with control room staff to maintain smooth operations.

The position requires adherence to safety procedures, physical stamina, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment. Prior airport or conveyor experience is preferred, and weekend/overtime shifts are expected.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• Experience in airport, warehouse, or conveyor environment preferred.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems.
• Able to read and follow written/verbal instructions and complete reports.
• Must be able to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to obtain airport badge.

Responsibilities

• Monitor baggage jams and clear safely.
• Operate manual encoding when automated systems fail to read.
• Communicate with control room about system status and irregular baggage flow.
• Follow safety procedures including LOTO and PPE near moving equipment.
• Inspect conveyors, diverters, and scanners for debris and issues.
• Record incidents, jam counts, and manual encoding data.
• Support technicians and control room in identifying recurring issues.
• Maintain awareness of emergency stops and safe work clearances.
• Keep work areas clean and organized.
• Uphold safety and operational standards.
