Job description

This AIRPLANE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR position, is located at the unit level in the Air National Guard (ANG) Aviation Wing, Operations Group at selected units in the ANG and is part of the CA 163 ATKW.

Key Responsibilities

THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION Indefinite appointment cannot exceed 5 years. Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered.

The primary purpose of the AIRPLANE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, GS-2181-13, is to both personally pilot and to instruct others in the piloting of highly advanced military Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) which involve such functions as launch and recovery, surveillance, surface attack, full scale weapons employment, mortar to arm escort, killer scout, target illumination, laser targeting, functional flight tests, and flight testing.

This position description is designed for those National Guard unmanned aircraft where the pilot is issuing flight control commands directly to the aircraft via "stick and rudder" as opposed to that where the operator inputs flight and navigational commands into a flight control system which determines the appropriate "piloting" actions.

Requirements & Education

Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs OR must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools. Must provide flight records and/or Aviation Certification. Failure to provide will result in automatic disqualification.

When there is a positive education or certification requirement, or you are using education to qualify as a substitution for experience, copies of transcripts (unofficial) and/or certificates are required at the time of application to verify that you meet the educational/certification requirement or substitution. Failure to provide transcripts and/or certificates at the time of application will result in automatic disqualification.
