Job description

As a Ramp Agent, you will be responsible for essential ramp service tasks, including loading and unloading baggage and cargo, marshalling aircraft, and performing water servicing. A focus on safety and attention to detail is crucial. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

Pay : $18.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

  1. Marshall aircraft upon arrival and departure.
  2. Load and unload cargo / baggage on and off aircraft.
  3. Safely drive and operate ground support equipment, including belt loaders, tugs, and baggage carts to pick-up and deliver cargo / bags between the terminal, warehouse, and aircraft.
  4. Sort and load baggage.
  5. Perform ground service functions, such as connecting / removing ground power and ground start units and water service.
  6. Perform aircraft pushback, wing walking, and related guide man functions.
  7. Maintain a secure work environment.
  8. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  9. Ability to lift and handle heavy baggage and cargo (up to 50 lbs or more).
  10. Valid Driver's license, must be maintained throughout employment in this role.
  11. Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and flight crews.
  12. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
  13. Basic mechanical aptitude for operating ground support equipment.
  14. Ability to pass background checks and comply with airport security regulations.
  15. Attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols.
  16. Fluently read, write, and speak English.
  17. This job is covered by a collective bargaining agreement of the Transport Workers Union (TWU), which requires joining the TWU and paying union dues.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience in aviation or ground handling operations.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry baggage or cargo up to 50 lbs regularly, and occasionally up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and moving throughout the airport terminal or warehouse.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs as needed to assist passengers and handle luggage.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Manual dexterity for handling documents, operating computers, and using radios.
  • Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods (up to 8 hours or more during shifts).
  • Clear vision and hearing required for monitoring flight information, responding to passengers, and ensuring safety compliance.
  • Capacity to work in confined spaces, such as baggage handling areas or aircraft cabins.
  • Ability to work in noisy environments, such as near aircraft engines and ground support equipment.
