Job Summary

Under the direction of the Crew Chief, this position is responsible for the proper fabrication and installation of metal goods in aircraft components, aircraft, or related products, including but not limited to Flaps, Slats, intakes, leading edges, slats, etc. In addition, working from blueprints, drawings, sketches or verbal instructions; repairs, modifies, or installs metal and composite structural components to DA drawings, Engineering dispositions, DFJ-WC, and government standards.

Under the direction of the Crew Chief, this position is responsible for the proper fabrication and installation of metal goods in aircraft components, aircraft, or related products, including but not limited to Flaps, Slats, intakes, leading edges, slats, etc. In addition, working from blueprints, drawings, sketches or verbal instructions; repairs, modifies, or installs metal and composite structural components to DA drawings, Engineering dispositions, DFJ-WC, and government standards.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs structural repairs/alterations in accordance with FARs, manufacturer’s technical publications and drawings and within DFJ-WC schedules and FAA standards and regulations.
  • Manufactures form and molding blocks.
  • Fabricates sheet metal parts requiring flanges and contouring.
  • Produce and fabricate tooling and parts to aid in the repair of components or aircraft parts for MRO and SRC.
  • Lays out and forms doublers, stringers, angles, channels, zee sections and hat sections.
  • Parts fabrication, layout, drilling, riveting, deburring, polishing, and installation of parts.
  • Knowledge of close tolerances for interference fit fasteners.
  • Bearing and bushing replacement as required.
  • Sets up and operates heavy machine tools including but not limited to power brakes, drill press, and shears.
  • Is able to execute assigned task from a set of drawings, SRM, sketches, or verbal instructions.
  • Completes daily tasks with accuracy and completeness.
  • Works in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA and Company Procedures advising the Supervisor immediately of any unsafe or hazardous equipment or working facility.
  • Maintains a clean working area.
  • Completes his/her work within allocated target hours and on schedule.
  • Occasionally, performs fabrication and installation of Avionics STC systems, flight controls and associated airframe systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains knowledge of current EPA regulations and applicable F.A.R.s.
  • Understands and complies with all DFJ-WC employee work rules.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred with additional courses in structural repair and alteration work in recognized service or technical school.
  • Must have five (5) years structural repair experience or equivalent.
  • Must be able to work from blueprints or sketches.
  • F.A.A. “Airframe” license preferred.
  • Must have required tools (See approved minimum list).
