Primary Function

The Airframe Sheet Metal Mechanic performs installation of aircraft sheet metal and structural components in accordance with approved methods, techniques, and practices.

Essential Functions
  1. Interface with Crew lead and other Technicians as required.
  2. Install sheet metal & structures according to instructions/drawings.
  3. Meet customer needs in sheet metal & structure installation.
  4. Other duties as assigned.
  5. Willingness to travel overseas.
  6. Perform Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks.
  7. Perform continuity and power checks.
  8. Operate Ground Support Equipment (Power Cart, Tug, Forklift, etc.).
  9. Provide own tools, except for specialty tools.
  10. Remove, inspect, repair, and reinstall aircraft parts/systems.
  11. Annotate log book and work book entries per DA PAM 738-751 or other contractual guidance.
  12. Maintain cleanliness and follow a clean-as-you-go process during maintenance duties.
  13. Comply with DHS/Department of Defense (DOD) processes and procedures.
  14. Follow safety rules and report incidents promptly.
  15. Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have direct reports.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Experience with structural repairs/enhancements on aircraft such as UH-60, CH-47, C-130, V22, AH-64, and others.
  • Ability to carry items up to 40 pounds and perform tasks in cramped or awkward positions.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and interpret technical documents.
  • Use of special test equipment and tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Trustworthiness and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficiency with general office equipment.
  • Analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn company policies and procedures.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 15 years of experience, including 5 years with military standards.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screenings.
