Job summary

A leading company in aerospace solutions is seeking an Airframe Sheet Metal Mechanic to perform installation of aircraft sheet metal and structural components. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in aircraft maintenance, strong knowledge of military standards, and the ability to work in various conditions. Qualifications

  • 10 years' experience in aircraft maintenance, including 5 years using military standards.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screenings.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Install sheet metal & structures according to instructions/drawings.
  • Conduct Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks regularly.
  • Remove, inspect, repair, and reinstall aircraft parts/systems.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Airframe Sheet Metal Mechanic performs installation of aircraft sheet metal and structural components in accordance with approved methods, techniques, and practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Interface with Crew lead and other Technicians as required.
  2. Install sheet metal & structures according to instructions/drawings.
  3. Meet customer needs by installing sheet metal & structures as required.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.
  5. Willingness to travel overseas.
  6. Conduct Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks regularly.
  7. Perform continuity and power checks.
  8. Operate Ground Support Equipment (Power Cart, Tug, Forklift, etc.).
  9. Provide your own tools, except for specialty tools.
  10. Remove, inspect, repair, and reinstall aircraft parts/systems.
  11. Annotate log book and work book entries in accordance with DA PAM 738-751 or other contractual guidance.
  12. Maintain cleanliness and utilize a clean-as-you-go process during maintenance duties; perform rotating break room cleaning duties.
  13. Follow processes and procedures as per DHS/Department of Defense (DOD) documents and publications.
  14. Comply with safety rules and regulations; report accidents, injuries, safety violations, and unsafe practices promptly.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have direct reports.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of structural repairs/enhancements on aircraft such as UH-60 A/L, UH-60 M, 407, 206, OH-58, AH 64 D, AH-64E, CH-47 F, MC-130J, HC-130, C-130, C-26, EC-145, EC-135, LUH-72, UC-35, V22, AH-IF, COBRA, APACHE.
  • Ability to carry items up to 40 pounds; seek assistance for heavier items.
  • Perform tasks in cramped, awkward positions, climbing ladders, work platforms, scaffolding, and aircraft structures.
  • Perform tasks requiring lifting, reaching, bending, walking, pulling, sitting, standing, crouching, kneeling, and stretching for prolonged periods.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Use special test equipment and tools.
  • Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Work effectively with all levels of management and staff; interact professionally with external contacts.
  • Handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Use general office equipment.
  • Follow established processes.
  • Provide professional customer service.
  • Analyze data and evaluate decision impacts.
