Job Overview

The Airframe Fabrication Technician at AEVEX Aerospace performs precision mechanical assembly work, which is typically of high complexity and/or requires fitting, alignment, and the adjustment of components, units, and assemblies to very close tolerances.

Essential Functions

  • Fabricates sheet metal parts in accordance with current technical data provided
  • Safely operates power equipment such as drill motor, rivet gun, hydraulic press, hand roll, shears, brakes, grinders and band saw
  • Works with flat pattern layouts in sheet metal parts
  • Performs complex press brake, bending at angles, step bends, proper back gauge transfer between steps, delays, etc.
  • Selects appropriate material for each job based on the desired or necessary strength
  • Reads blueprints, work orders, and oral and written instructions to fabricate and assemble sheet metal aircraft parts
  • Properly records all work performed
  • Supports problem solving and continuous improvement efforts
  • Follows all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment
  • Ensures that all work is done efficiently and adheres to aviation safety regulations and industry best practice
  • Maintains a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with company standards, customer and government regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications And Competencies

  • Understanding of basic shop math
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, micrometer and scale
  • Knowledge of aircraft hardware, materials, and processes
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Ability to meet daily/weekly production goals with critical time schedules
  • Detail oriented, organized, and a team player
  • Strong work ethic and integrity

Education / Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license or military aircraft experience a plus

Experience

  • 2-5 years aviation sheet metal fabrication experience

AEVEX provides a reasonable range of compensation. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific location. The range of starting pay for this position is for the listed location only.

Salary Range

$27—$32.76 USD
