Job summary

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Board in Dallas, TX seeks a Lead Assistant Airfield Operations Officer to oversee airfield activity and safety. You will conduct inspections of the Air Operations Area (AOA), ensure FAR 139 compliance, and coordinate with the FAA control tower and stakeholders to keep operations safe and efficient.

You will monitor wildlife hazards, manage incident reports, issue NOTAMs, and supervise agents on duty.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years aviation/airfield operations at a FAR 139 large hub airport, or two years in a supervisory role at a medium/small hub.
  • Ability to pass medical examination and credentialing, annual firearm safety, and hunter safety courses.
  • Possess a valid Class C driver's license and ability to obtain CBP security clearance within 30 days.
  • This is a safety-sensitive role; drug testing will be required before and during employment.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, extended hours and overtime as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of FAR 139 and FAA requirements; ability to read and interpret regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects Air Operations Area (AOA) including runways, taxiways, ramps, lighting, and security for FAR 139 compliance; maintains records.
  • Reports discrepancies, coordinates with FAA control tower, and issues NOTAMs as required.
  • Oversees workload of Airfield Operations Agents, directs duties, and monitors airfield activity.
  • Conducts wildlife hazard inspections and maintains wildlife management records.
  • Responds to emergencies; assists on-scene commander and oversees responders on all AOA incidents.
  • Monitors construction/maintenance for CFR Part 139 and Part 77 standards; prepares routine and special reports.
  • Represents Airfield Operations in projects; coordinates with stakeholders and ensures safe operations.
