Job summary

The City of Albuquerque's Aviation Department seeks an experienced manager to plan, direct and coordinate airfield operations, ensuring safe, secure and compliant airport performance under FAA and TSA rules.

You will supervise staff, coordinate with tenants and agencies, manage training, budget and emergencies, and serve as on-scene representative during incidents. A Bachelor's in aviation management and six years of airport operations with supervisory experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation management or related field required; Six (6) years of airport/airline operations or airfield management experience; three (3) years supervisory experience.
  • ACE Operations, CM and/or AAE designations preferred.
  • Must possess NM driver’s license or ability to obtain; COP within six months; TSA access requirements.
  • Ability to work odd days off, weekends, holidays and on-call.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily airfield operations through planning, organizing, and supervising staff.
  • Coordinate inspections of runways, taxiways, ramps, fencing, and navigational areas to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Develop and evaluate operational goals, policies, and service standards for safe airport operations.
  • Direct and coordinate programs and projects, monitor performance, and implement process improvements.
  • Coordinate airport operations with internal departments, tenants, contractors, airlines, and government agencies.
