Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Bluffton, SC, is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic A&P with upholstery specialization to design, fabricate, and install upholstery and trim in aircraft interiors. This role involves mentoring technicians, leading projects, and ensuring safety and quality in all work.

The position requires 4 years of upholstery experience (2 years aircraft upholstery or 6 years commercial upholstery) and strong knowledge of sewing, material specs, and engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 4 years upholstery experience including two years aircraft upholstery or 6 years commercial upholstery.
• Advanced knowledge of upholstery and sewing processes and products; carpet knowledge is a plus.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently.
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering documentation; must be computer literate.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and install seat covers, curtains, and various assemblies and subassemblies.
• Interpret material specifications and design/engineering drawings to meet requirements.
• Sew and install covers for panels in aircraft interiors per safety and quality standards.
• Use Corridor to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off work.
• Design, cut, and install advanced carpet patterns in aircraft interiors.
• Lead projects when needed and mentor fellow technicians.
• Participate in safety audits and process improvements using Lean Six-Sigma.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
