Job summary

VTG in Patuxent River, MD is seeking an Upholsterer/Upholstery Restoration Specialist to support the Presidential Helicopters program. You will repair and restore upholstered aircraft furnishings, install coverings, and ensure trims and fittings are precise in a high-security environment.

The role requires at least 3 years' experience, High School diploma, U.S. citizenship, and Top Secret Yankee White clearance.

Qualifications

High School Education or equivalent.
Minimum of three years' experience performing upholstery duties.
U.S. citizen with Top Secret Yankee White clearance.
Working knowledge of publications, drawings, blueprints; military applications preferred.
Working knowledge of upholstery, sewing processes and products.

Responsibilities

Repairs and rebuilds upholstered aircraft furnishings using hand tools and knowledge of fabrics and upholstery methods.
Removes coverings, webbing and padding from seats, arms, backs and sides of work piece using a tack puller, chisel, and mallet.
Removes defective springs by cutting cords or wires; replaces webbing and springs or re-ties springs as necessary.
Measures and cuts new covering material; installs material on inside of arms, back, seat, and over outside back and arms.
Tacks or sews ornamental trim, such as braid and buttons, to cover and frame; may operate sewing machine to seam cushions and join covering materials; may repair wooden frame and other items.
