Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical principles and prior experience operating standard hand tools.
  • Must meet FAA eligibility to eventually obtain an FAA A&P certificate (minimum 18, read, write, and speak English).
  • Background check: must pass a 10-year TSA background screening and DOT drug testing for airport access badges.
  • Must be willing to provide and maintain a personal starter set of aviation hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with mechanical and structural removals, installations, repairs, and modifications of airframe components and turbine engines.
  • Utilize torque wrenches, pneumatic drills, calipers, and rivet guns to assemble close-tolerance components.
  • Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks conform to manuals and are documented under 14 CFR Part 43.
  • Maintain a clean, safe hangar and manage the inventory of aviation parts and hazardous shop materials.

SUMMARY

The Aircraft Technician Apprentice assists certified Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Technicians in executing routine inspections, structural alterations, preventative maintenance, and unscheduled troubleshooting. All work is completed on the company’s medically configured fleet of Learjet 31,31A, 35A, and 45 aircraft in strict compliance with the carrier's General Operations Manual (GOM), Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervised Maintenance: Assist with mechanical and structural removals, installations, repairs, and modifications of airframe components and turbine engines.
  • Tooling Operations: Utilize specialized precision tools—including torque wrenches, pneumatic drills, calipers, and rivet guns—to assemble close-tolerance components.

QUALIFICATIONS
