Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read blueprints required.
• Minimum 1 year previous related experience required.
• Ability to apply basic math, including arithmetic in all units.
• Ability to communicate verbally in one-to-one situations with management and co-workers.
• Ability to safely and properly use gauges, calipers, and other tools.

Responsibilities

• Assembles structural sections of aircraft using fabricated parts, subassemblies, and components by safely using hand tools and power tools in accordance with blueprints and specifications.
• Drill holes into structure and subassemblies and attaches brackets, hinges, or clips.
• Cuts, trims, and files parts to the proper fit.
• Locates reference points and holes for installation of parts using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments.
• Ensures parts are aligned to acceptable tolerances.
• Inspects and tests installed units, parts, and equipment for fit, form, and function using measuring instruments and test equipment.
• Tends machines, such as arbor presses or riveting machines, to perform fastening operations on the assembly line.
