Job summary

V2X in Mississippi is seeking a skilled aircraft painter to apply coatings to interior and exterior surfaces, perform masking and prep work, and ensure quality finishes.

You will paint components, remove old paint with blasting equipment, degrease parts, and route items through the overhaul process while maintaining safety and compliance.

The position requires high school diploma and related experience; A&P certification preferred, with weekend and overtime as needed and a commitment to teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED) and 2 years of related work experience in aircraft/component maintenance.
  • Painting experience in automotive industry will be considered.
  • A&P Certification preferred and knowledge of FAA maintenance programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

Paints aircraft interior, exterior, and piece parts. Prepares for painting by masking, stripping, and washing aircraft sections and components. Blends and mixes paints, inks, and coatings to proper spraying consistency. Performs detail and touch-ups. Sets up and coordinates processes for painting production parts.

Essential Functions

The incumbent is responsible for cleaning, sanding, and painting of aircraft components. Additional essential functions may be identified by the organization and listed as such in the incumbent's performance appraisal elements. Various tasks may be assigned under each essential function. Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Performance Standards

Annual performance appraisal for administrative level; attainment of annual goals established between supervisor and incumbent.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Graduation from a standard four (4) year high school or equivalent (GED); AND 2 years of related work experience directly related to aircraft maintenance or component maintenance.
  • Painting experience in the automotive industry will be considered.
  • A & P Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of the following: Databases sufficient to perform the job, duties, and tasks associated with the position; Aircraft sheet metal repair and component repair; Instrument, electronic and electrical test equipment; Military or commercial aviation maintenance and its terminology; and U.S. government regulations for federal contractors and FAA maintenance programs
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment and annual pulmonary function test (PFT) for the use of supplied air respirator.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a public trust position (if required for the position).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (if required for the position).
  • Must be able to work weekends, other shifts, and overtime as required.
  • The essential physical requirements of the position will be reviewed with the applicant during the interview.
