Job summary

Total Aviation Staffing is seeking an experienced Aircraft Painter to support aviation operations at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland. You will prepare, paint, and finish aircraft, equipment, and related components with emphasis on precision and safety.

Responsibilities include applying coatings with spray guns, brushes, and rollers, removing old paint, sanding, masking, and applying insignia. Requires at least 5 years of aircraft painting experience and completion of related paint courses.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience preparing and painting aircraft, support equipment, and related components.
  • Specialization in one or more SCA codes: 23740 – Painter, Aircraft; 05310 – Automotive Painter.
  • Completion of Aircraft Paint Touch Up and Markings Course (N-701-0014) or Aircraft Paint/Finish Course (C-600-3182).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and paint aircraft, support equipment, and related components.
  • Apply coatings using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other approved painting equipment.
  • Remove existing paint using liquid paint removers, scraping tools, and approved methods.
  • Sand and smooth surfaces using sandpaper, steel wool, and other appropriate materials.
  • Treat aluminum surfaces with approved acid solutions and steel wool to promote proper paint adhesion.
  • Mask and protect areas that should not be painted.
  • Apply aircraft insignia, letters, numbers, and markings using stencils.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and technical procedures throughout all painting activities.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Painter to join a leading engineering and technical services organization supporting aviation operations at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland. In this role, you’ll use your technical expertise and attention to detail to prepare, paint, and finish aircraft, support equipment, and related components.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced aircraft painter who takes pride in precision, craftsmanship, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
