Job summary

Lockheed Martin Greenville paints aircraft and prepares surfaces for coatings on C-130 and other military aircraft, ensuring quality finishes before delivery to customers. The role emphasizes applying markings, masking, and maintaining equipment in a regulated aerospace environment.

You will operate grinders and spray systems, adhere to FOD-free practices, and perform tasks safely while supporting production and sustainment paint operations on complex aerostructures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of aircraft-specific paint experience.
• Must pass post-offer medical exam.
• Willing to wear PPE and work in a manufacturing environment.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Interpret markings to apply interior/exterior aircraft decals and insignia.
• Prepare aircraft surfaces by washing, sanding, masking to ensure cleanliness for paint.
• Use grinders, sanders, paint guns, and measuring devices to prep and paint aircraft surfaces, parts, and components.
• Maintain and troubleshoot painting equipment for operational effectiveness.
• Work safely in a clean, FOD-free area and follow PPE requirements.

Job description

Coats surfaces of aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices, removes old paint from aircraft, using liquid paint remover and scraper. Smoothes surface with sandpaper and steel wool, roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to insure that paint adheres to surface, masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted, and paint insignia, letters or numerals on aircraft surface, using stencils.

You will be the Aircraft Painter, Paint Technician Level 2 for the Lockheed Martin Greenville Paint Operations Team. Our team is responsible for Production and Sustainment paint/coating operations on C-130 and other military aircraft prior to delivery to our customers.

What You Will Be Doing

• Interpret marking drawings to accurately apply both major and minor interior/exterior aircraft markings and decals.
• Prepare aircraft surfaces by washing, cleaning, sanding, and masking to ensure they are free from contaminants and ready for high-quality painting.
• Utilize various tools such as grinders, sanders, paint guns, and measuring devices to prepare and paint aircraft surfaces, parts, and components.
• Maintain and troubleshoot painting equipment to ensure its operational effectiveness and longevity within the aerospace industry.
• Work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean, Foreign Object Debris (FOD)-free work area.
• Mission essential functions and other duties may be assigned as required.

Physical Requirements

• Candidates must complete a post-offer medical exam prior to the start.
• Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will be required to wear Personal Protective
• Use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear.
• Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, twist, and work on or in the aircraft.
• Frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Perform repetitive movements and work overhead.

Equipment (PPE) as needed to perform job tasks.

• The employee is regularly exposed to vibration.
• Respirator certification is required- 1st shift 5:30am-4:00PM 4x10A
