Job description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This position is for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (Title 32) with the Position Description Number D1525000, part of the OK 138th Fighter Wing, Oklahoma Air National Guard.


Duties
  1. Directs, monitors, or performs maintenance, servicing, inspections, and documentation for aircraft under various conditions, including all weather and night operations.
  2. Coordinates and oversees work of subordinate aircraft mechanics and other trades, reviews, trains, and prepares for battle damage assessment/repair.
  3. Serves as technical authority for airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine, and pneudraulic repairs.
  4. Works with production control to report aircraft status, request support, and coordinate maintenance to meet mission requirements.
  5. Assigns maintenance tasks based on priorities, workload, parts, facilities, and personnel availability.
  6. Inspects performance and procedures for compliance with technical publications and policies.
  7. Performs operational tests, ground movement, launch, recovery, and servicing of aircraft.
  8. Diagnoses and resolves malfunctions using diagnostic equipment, blueprints, and operating characteristics analysis.
  9. Performs or oversees maintenance activities such as troubleshooting, repairs, rigging, cleaning, painting, and corrosion control.
  10. Assists with depot-level maintenance and ensures all support equipment is ready for deployment.
  11. Maintains accurate aircraft documentation and provides technical guidance to flight crews.
  12. Completes work independently, making decisions to ensure mission completion under operational tempo.
  13. Plans, develops, and conducts training for a workforce of 3 to 8 personnel, including Cross Utilization Training (CUT).
  14. Participates in readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilizations, and exercises.
  15. Performs additional duties such as firefighting, rescue, security, snow removal, munitions handling, heavy equipment operation, and disaster response as required.
  16. May travel via military aircraft and drive military vehicles, and participate in temporary duty assignments.
  17. Adheres to safety, security, environmental, and housekeeping regulations, ensuring proper maintenance and protection of materials and equipment.
Requirements
  • Must be a member of the National Guard prior to employment.
  • Requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the state's National Guard.
  • Mandatory wear of military uniform.
  • Applicants not currently in the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must register for Selective Service.
  • Subject to background investigation and suitability determination.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Qualifications

Military Grades: E-1 Through E-6

General Experience: Experience in removing, replacing, and adjusting aircraft parts and components using hand tools and test equipment.

Specialized Experience: Experience in installing, troubleshooting, and testing aircraft systems, coordinating work of other mechanics, and instructing personnel in disassembly and reassembly of aircraft components.
