Job summary

V2X Inc in Key West, FL is seeking a Power Plants Mechanic to support aircraft engine systems, troubleshooting per OEM instructions, and lead a maintenance team as needed. You will work under Maintenance Control and perform engine removal/installation with required tools.

Minimum three years in aircraft maintenance; FAA A&P license; strong English communication; ability to obtain a secret clearance; valid US driver’s license; and willingness to work in varying environmental conditions.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in aircraft maintenance, with last two years as a licensed FAA A&P mechanic.
• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must be customer service oriented and able to communicate professionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform engine/component troubleshooting per OEM instructions.
• Use engine test equipment to troubleshoot engine operation in aircraft.
• Troubleshoot fuel leaks; remove and replace aircraft fuel cells.
• Provide guidance to mechanics and share technical knowledge as needed.
• Evaluate engine/dynamic component conditions against parameters.
• Assist in removal/replacement of aircraft engines with proper equipment.

Responsibilities

This position is part of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The Power Plants Mechanic possesses a high degree of expertise in Power Plants related systems, tools, directives and components in the performance of engine troubleshooting, repairs and replacement on aircraft. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge and experience to solve Power Plant repair problems and provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction to employees in the Power Plants Mechanic classification and to others throughout the aviation team as required. May be required to perform Leadman duties when designated and authorized. The Power Plants Mechanic is directly accountable to Maintenance Control, Maintenance Supervisor with oversight from Work Center Leads.

• Perform aircraft engine/component troubleshooting using customer/OEM instructions.
• Use engine test equipment as provided by the customer to troubleshoot and analyze engine operation in the aircraft.
• Troubleshoot fuel leaks, remove and replace aircraft fuel cells.
• Provide guidance to mechanics within the work center or special work group by sharing technical knowledge to enhance accomplishment of assigned tasks.
• Evaluate condition of engine and dynamic components requiring inspections as a result of operation outside of established parameters.
• Assist in the removal and replacement of aircraft engines utilizing appropriate support equipment.

Material & Equipment Directly Used

• Work Orders in NALCOMIS/OOMA, Standard Navy Support Equipment, Lifts, Stands, Hoists.

Working Environment

The diversity of work conditions may range an environment where there is little to no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and electrical shock hazards.

Physical Activities

This classification activity requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with shop/hangar/flight line maintenance activities to include bending, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, stretching, kneeling and working in tiring, uncomfortable positions, etc. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.

Qualifications

• Aircraft mechanics shall have three years experience in their specific aircraft maintenance occupational field. The last two years must have been as a practicing licensed FAA airframe and power plants mechanic; in the military (E-5 or above); civil service (WG-7-10), or with a government aviation maintenance contractor.
• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must be customer service oriented and possess the ability to communicate professionally, courteously and respectfully.
• Basic data entry in computer systems.
• Valid U.S. Drivers License.
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a secret security clearance.
