Job summary

The Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Norfolk, VA seeks experienced Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) and FAA‑certified A&P Mechanics as instructors. No prior teaching experience is required, and a 5‑day paid instructor training program is provided.

Full‑time roles include both day and evening schedules. Teach hands‑on aircraft maintenance, deliver FAA‑aligned curriculum, and mentor students toward A&P certification while maintaining records and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree in aviation or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience. Background as an A&P Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic, or Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) required.
  • Licensure: FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate required.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of aircraft systems and aviation maintenance procedures; mentoring, coaching, and developing others; ability to work in a structured, compliance‑driven training environment; basic proficiency with Microsoft Office; flexibility to support evening or weekend schedules as needed.

About AIM

The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM), established in 1969, offers FAA‑certified Airframe & Powerplant training across 15 campuses nationwide, accounting for 20% of all students attending A&P schools in the United States.

Up to $36 per hour + $2,500 Sign‑On Bonus

Position Overview

The AIM seeks experienced Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs), Aircraft Mechanics, and FAA‑certified A&P Mechanics as instructors. No prior teaching experience is required. A 5‑day paid instructor training program is provided.

Schedule Options
  • Option 1 (Days): Monday – Friday 7:00 am–3:30 pm
  • Option 2 (Nights): Monday – Thursday 3:00 pm–11:30 pm and Friday 9:00 am–4:00 pm
