Position Purpose

The Aircraft Mechanic Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging instruction in assigned courses, ensuring that students grasp theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. The instructor also manages administrative tasks such as maintaining records, assessing student performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the curriculum. This role fosters a supportive learning environment that prepares students for careers in aviation.

Key Duties
  • Provide engaging and effective teaching in aircraft maintenance principles and develop curricula aligned with industry standards.
  • Create a positive classroom atmosphere and offer individualized support to enhance student success.
  • Oversee administrative responsibilities, including maintaining records and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.

This position ensures the training program prepares students for aviation careers in line with industry standards and contributes to the institution's success.

Job Responsibilities
  • Teach classes on a scheduled basis in aircraft maintenance, fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director to develop curriculum, prepare materials, and schedule classes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained for student use.
  • Establish and maintain accurate academic and attendance records, submitting attendance, grades, and evaluations as required.
  • Notify supervision of issues requiring attention and implement retention techniques to support student success.
  • Complete performance-based teacher education modules, participate in classroom observations, and respond to student feedback to improve instruction.
  • Attend and/or lead in-service trainings and faculty meetings to ensure ongoing professional development.
  • Assist in managing inventory of department equipment and supplies, submitting replenishment requests as needed.
  • Monitor student attendance and address absences that may affect retention.
  • Complete other tasks and projects as assigned by the Supervisor to support the program.
Required Qualifications
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate
  • Minimum three (3) years of hands-on aircraft maintenance experience (exception for broader experience considered)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong command of both theoretical and practical aircraft maintenance concepts with commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, compliance-oriented educational setting
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and able to multitask
  • High integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism
  • Effective verbal and written communication with emphasis on customer service in education
  • Motivated, goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team with strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Flexibility to work outside scheduled hours as needed

Schedule Options (Full-Time)

Evening Shift

  • Monday – Thursday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Day Shift

  • Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Friday – Sunday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • One additional 10-hour day of preparation time – flexible
