Job description

Aircraft Mechanic III (LUH-72) FAA A&P Tucson, AZ

Aircraft Mechanic III (LUH72) A&P performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including repairs, modifications to aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of varying difficulty. Maintains and repairs aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical parts. Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose malfunctions and utilizes technical data, including blueprints and manufacturer manuals, to resolve issues.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Performing troubleshooting, repair procedures, and component replacements with comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical components.
  2. Executing aircraft sheet metal and structural modifications and repairs.
  3. Diagnosing and determining functionality of electrical systems.
  4. Using aircraft-specific tools and test equipment, such as torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, and sheet metal tools.
  5. Making entries in aircraft logbooks and records, and maintaining documentation in systems like ULLSAE.
  6. Conducting inspections including preflight, post-flight, and phase inspections.
  7. Launching and recovering aircraft, performing operational checks, and ensuring aircraft cleanliness and appearance.
  8. Operating ground support equipment and performing ground movement tasks.
  9. Annotating maintenance actions and completing CAMS entries.
  10. Adapting to shift work including day, swing, night, and weekend shifts.
  11. Practicing safety, tool control, and FOD prevention at all times.
  12. Performing other duties as assigned, including working in confined spaces or at heights, lifting objects up to 50 pounds, and working in various environmental conditions.
Qualifications:
  • Valid, up-to-date FAA A&P license.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of aviation maintenance experience, including two (2) years on the LUH-72 MDS.
  • Experience must be within the last ten years.
  • Experience with rotary wing aircraft and ability to perform inspections and repairs across multiple systems.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must provide own tools, which must be shadowed and etched with PID.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for facility credentials.
  • Must be able to work in various physical conditions and environments, including at heights and in confined spaces.
