General Description
Aircraft Mechanic III maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty. This role includes maintaining and repairing aircraft components, including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. The incumbent applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and restoring equipment condition and operation. The position requires a comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures, sheet metal/structural modification and repair, and the ability to determine the functionality of non-complex electrical systems. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, and cable tensiometers is required. The incumbent must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedules. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.

Duties

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on C-147A and UV-18C aircraft.
  • Troubleshoot Aircraft Avionics Systems.
  • Support and assist aircrews with flight line and general hangar operations.
  • Assist other Mechanics in daily tasks.
  • Complete training and corporate requirements.
  • Travel in support of detachment operations up to 30%.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • FAA Aircraft & Powerplant Certificate.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Working knowledge of US Army Aircraft forms and records (DA PAM 738-751) and familiarity with FAA FAR Part 43.
  • At least 2 years of Military Fixed Wing Experience (or civilian equivalent) and/or 5 years of Military Rotary Wing Experience.
  • Dash 8-100/200/300 (Desired).
  • DHC-6-300/400 (Desired).
  • Strong Avionics background (Desired).
  • Familiarity with Aircraft Notebook ACN system.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Capability to learn and comprehend corporate policies and procedures, along with their alignment with the objectives of Tyonek Native Corporation.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, and access the top of aircraft using proper fall protection devices.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift equipment, tools, and toolboxes up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • Must be able to walk distances and stand for periods of time to complete maintenance.
  • Must be able to work in austere conditions when necessary.
