Job description

Description

The Aircraft Mechanic III - F-18 Quality Assurance Representative, shall perform O-Level quality assurance on assigned aircraft. Works from blueprints, maintenance manuals, quality control procedures, quality instructions, contractor standard specifications, Naval inspection manual/cards and military technical directives. Inspects aircraft mechanical, electrical and electronic systems assemblies and engines using general and special test equipment.


Monitors all required inspections of maintenance procedures and systems checkouts and is authorized to inspect safety of flight related maintenance actions. Performs as liaison with Government quality verification personnel. Comply with all current sections of NAVAIRINST 3710.1 (series) and CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) as applicable to Aircraft Maintenance, and a thorough knowledge of flight line operations. Maintains required logs and records. Ensures work area is maintained in a neat and orderly manner and that all safety rules and regulations are observed. Works with other groups or personnel to resolve problems. Quality Assurance Inspectors will instruct and assist in training of lower-level employees in proper work methods and performance of their job duties. Performs related duties as assigned, including all duties of lower rated technical personnel within their classification. Assists other shops/skills as required.


Essential Job Functions:


* Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul aircraft engines and assemblies, such as hydraulic and pneumatic systems.


* Includes helicopter and aircraft engine specialists. Excludes "Avionics Technician" (49-2091).


* Specialized training courses are desirable.


* Successful completion of the Navy Quality Assurance Program.


* Minimum of ten years (performed within the last 15 years) of experience performing repairs of high-performance aircraft.


* Minimum of three years of aircraft maintenance experience as an aircraft quality assurance representative/specialist in naval aviation (E-6), or civil service (WG-10), or Government aviation maintenance Contractor inspector.


* Minimum of three years of aircraft maintenance experience as an aircraft quality assurance representative/specialist in naval aviation (E-6), or civil service (WG-10), or Government aviation maintenance Contractor inspector.


* Shall have at least three years specific T/M required aircraft experience at the O-Level in the T/M/S aircraft hired to maintain.


* T/M qualified Level III Mechanics or Electricians qualified.


* Ability to recognize aircraft discrepancy trends, develop Trend Analysis reports, brief verbally or in writing to the Maintenance Officer, Maintenance Material Control Representatives, Project Officers, Functional Check Flight Aircrew and Flight Crews.


* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to prepare and present on-the-job maintenance training and technical briefings.



Minimum Education and Experience Required:


* May be required to lift to 50 pounds.


* High School graduate or equivalent.


* Must possess a U.S. Secret Clearance and be able to maintain same.


* Must be available to work any shift.


* Must be U.S. Citizen.


* Shall have a valid driver's license.


* Travel may be required.
