Adams Communication & Engineering Technology (ACET, Incorporated) seeks an Aircraft Mechanic III (F/A-18E/F) Day Shift to ensure aircraft safety, structural integrity, and mission readiness on carrier-capable jets. You will troubleshoot complex issues, supervise, and mentor junior personnel while adhering to naval maintenance programs and safety standards.

The role requires 4–6+ years on the F/A-18E/F platform, active DoD Secret clearance, and proficiency with wiring schematics and aerospace

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 to 6+ years of dedicated experience on the F/A-18E/F platform.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance is required.
  • Reading wiring schematics, assembly blueprints, process specs, and naval directives.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic malfunctions on flight controls and systems.
  • Direct and perform major structural repairs with aerospace standards.
  • Act as final inspector and verify tolerances before logging actions.
  • Manage workload distribution, mentor junior mechanics to improve turnaround times.
  • Supervise aircraft movements including jacking, towing, and postflight inspections.

The Position:

ACET is seekingis looking for talentedAircraft Mechanic III (F/A-18E/F Aircraft) Day Shiftpersonnel.

This position is awaiting contract award.

The Aircraft Mechanic III serves as a senior-level technician, quality inspector, and team lead responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and mission readiness of twin-engine carrier-capable fighter jets. This role combines hands-on complex troubleshooting with crew leadership, demanding deep expertise in Navy-standard organizational and depot-level maintenance protocols.

The Aircraft Mechanic III acts as a technical authority on the F/A-18E/F Aircraft platforms. They perform, supervise, and verify deep-level maintenance actions, manage daily aircraft availability schedules, and mentor junior technicians. The position requires strict adherence to naval aviation technical manuals, Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) instructions, and strict safety procedures like Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention.

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic malfunctions on flight controls, landing gear, and arrestment systems.
  • Direct and perform major structural repairs, including part-fitting, coldworking, composite fixes, and fastening skins or bulkheads using precise aerospace specs.
  • Act as a final inspector, verifying the clearances, tolerances, and adequacy of corrective actions before making formal entries into aircraft logs.
  • Manage workload distribution, enforce the Tool Control Program (TCP), and mentor Mechanic I and II tiers to optimize turnaround schedules.
  • Supervise high-stakes movements including aircraft jacking, complex towing operations, postflight/preflight phase inspections, and hot pit refuels.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 to 6+ years of dedicated experience on the F/A-18E/F platform.
  • Must possess and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance.
  • High proficiency reading wiring schematics, assembly blueprints, process specifications, and naval technical directives.
  • Mastery of aircraft-unique tooling such as torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators, cable tensiometers, and sheet metal brakes.
  • Prior U.S. Navy or Marine Corps aviation maintenance experience (such as an Aviation Structural Mechanic / AM rating) is highly preferred.
Physical & Environmental Demands:
  • Ability to work day shifts, weekends, holidays, and temporary deployment duty.
  • Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds and perform demanding overhead work for long stretches.
  • Ability to climb flight line ladders, maintenance stands, and crawl into tight, confined aircraft spaces.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather variations and high-noise environments around operating jet engines.
