Job summary

ACET, Inc. seeks an experienced Aircraft Mechanic III to support organizational-level maintenance for the F/A-18 variants at NAS JRB Fort Worth, Texas.

You will perform, supervise, and inspect complex maintenance while guiding junior mechanics to achieve mission readiness.   • Experience with F/A-18 or comparable jet aircraft preferred.

The Position:

This position is awaiting contract award.

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Aircraft Mechanic III to support organizational-level (O-Level) maintenance operations for the F/A-18 (Multiple Variants) assigned to NAS JRB Fort Worth, Texas.

As a senior-level technician and team lead, you will perform, supervise, and inspect complex, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance. You will provide critical technical guidance to lower-level mechanics, troubleshoot intricate system malfunctions, and ensure total compliance with NAVAIR technical instructions to maximize aircraft mission readiness.

Responsibilities:

Technical Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform maintenance, modifications, and repairs of extreme difficulty on aircraft structures, components, and primary systems (including airframes, flight controls, powerplants, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel, and landing gear).
  • Troubleshoot complex aircraft discrepancies using blueprints, wiring diagrams, Maintenance Instruction Manuals (MIMs), and automated test equipment.
  • Conduct rigid pre-flight, post-flight, and periodic scheduled aircraft structural and safety inspections.

Leadership & Quality Assurance

  • Act as a maintenance team leader, supervising the shift workflow and instructing Aircraft Mechanics I and II on safe maintenance practices.
  • Execute duties as a qualified Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) or Quality Assurance Safety Observer (QASO), certifying that all work meets strict Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) protocols.
  • Approve and certify aircraft safe-for-flight documentation and accurately enter maintenance data into military logging systems.

Flight Line Operations & Safety

  • Direct flight line operations, including aircraft ground handling, marshaling, towing, and hangaring procedures.
  • Enforce corporate and military safety initiatives, specifically focusing on Tool Control Programs (TCP), Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, and hazardous waste disposal rules.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of aviation maintenance experience, with at least four (4) years specializing directly in F/A-18 C/Dor comparable military tactical jet aircraft.
  • Current or previous qualification as an F/A-18 CDI and QASO, with the ability to re-qualify immediately upon hire. (An FAA A&P License is highly preferred but may be substituted with comprehensive NAMP/military equivalent training documentation).
  • Complete mastery of the NAMP (COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series), Navy Technical Publications, and structural repair blueprints.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance to access the flight line and military facilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely lift and carry support equipment or parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical stamina to stand, crawl, kneel, bend, and work in tightly confined spaces or overhead positions for extended durations.
  • Ability to climb work stands, ladders, and maintenance platforms up to heights of 40 feet.
  • Tolerance to work in outdoor flight line environments subjected to extreme Texas heat, cold, loud noise levels, and changing weather conditions.
