Job summary

D.O.M. magazine is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic II (UH-60) based at Fort Polk, LA to perform maintenance on rotary-wing aircraft and support complex repair tasks.

You will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair engines, hydraulics, flight controls, and structures, using established manuals and test equipment to ensure mission readiness. The role requires leadership of small teams, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to interpret technical data, manuals, and MEC/MWO documentation to implement

Qualifications

  • FAA license or equivalent military aviation maintenance certification.
  • At least two years of experience on military rotorcraft.
  • Ability to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift schedules and flexible weeks.

Job description

PENDING CONTRACT AWARDJob Title: Aircraft Mechanic II (UH-60) Location: Fort Polk, LA (1st Bn, 5th Avn Regt) Aircraft Mechanic II (23022): Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:- All Mechanic IIs will possess either a FAA license or equivalent military service school certificate of training in aviation maintenance. TASK REQUIREMENTS:

  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneumatic, hydraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as fuselage and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, rivet gun and drills.
  • Read and interpret manufacturers maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Perform phase, scheduled, unscheduled, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.
  • Use chemical treatment process to etch and alodine parts.
  • Use chemical sealants.
  • Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system.
  • Lead and direct small maintenance teams.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • UH-6" qualification and/or experience.
  • Additional experience on one or more of the following aircraft: AH-64 or CH-47.
  • Three to five years leadership experience.
  • Eight or more years’ rotary wing experience.
  • Familiarity and ability to use Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity and ability to use military tech manuals.
  • Familiarity and ability to use Standard Army Management Information Systems.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate of one of the following Military Aviation Powertrain and/or General Repair, Hydraulic, Engine, Avionics and Sheet Metal Qualification Courses or civilian equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience on military rotorcraft.
  • Must be able to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift schedule as required.
  • Must be able to work flexible work-week schedules i.e. M-F, Tues-Sat, Sun-Th or as required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to obtain a favorable National Agency Check.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft.
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools.
  • Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Must be able to deploy to support off station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned.
  • Tool box must be complete, shadowed and spaned as a pre-employment requirement.
Compensation

$39.58/hour

Benefits
  • Employees will receive a minimum health and welfare fringe benefit of $2.65 for every hour paid up to 40 hours per week.
