Job description

The Aircraft Mechanic II (Structural) is responsible for support of highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, evaluates damage and accomplishes repairs on assigned and transient aircraft and support equipment.
• Operates all associated ground support equipment and uses hand tools, special tools, fixtures and adhesives applicable to return aircraft to operational condition.
• Evaluates, designs, and manufactures logistics improvement projects.
• Researches technical data and manufactures structural components, cables, and tubing assemblies.
• Uses maintenance instructions and technical data in the inspection and repair of assigned aircraft and associated equipment.
• Performs on‑equipment and off‑equipment maintenance to accomplish advanced aircraft composite repairs.
• Uses maintenance drawings and blueprints to accomplish repairs on assigned equipment.
• Performs aircraft and equipment corrosion inspections and evaluates aircraft and equipment for paint requirements.
• Removes and treats corrosion and applies protective coatings on aircraft and support equipment.
• Performs shop and flight line maintenance ensuring aircraft structural integrity.
• Coordinates maintenance efforts with Production Supervisors and Maintenance Operations Coordination Center.
• Documents discrepancies in applicable forms and inputs data in Maintenance Information System.
• Ensures compliance with applicable safety, housekeeping, tool control, and FOD prevention programs.
• Can work day, swing, night, and/or weekend shifts as required.
• Receives CUT training within classification.
• Performs other duties as assigned and must be able to travel for TDYs.
• Maintains training requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Working knowledge of aircraft structural repair procedures.
• Knowledge of corrosion control techniques and federal and company hazardous waste handling procedures.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English and interpret data.
• Completion of specialized courses in aircraft structural repair.
• Lifting of objects up to 50 lbs and completion of an Occupational Physical.
• Respirator Training, Fuel Systems Confined Space Entry Training, and CPR training.
• FAA Airframe license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance (US citizenship required).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a flightline driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of three years recent structural experience.

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $51.37. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
