Job description

Join to apply for the Aircraft Mechanic II (Sheet Metal) role at Amentum.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Inspecting, evaluating damage, and repairing assigned and transient aircraft and support equipment.
  2. Operating ground support equipment and using hand tools, fixtures, and adhesives to restore aircraft to operational condition.
  3. Designing and manufacturing logistics improvement projects.
  4. Researching technical data and manufacturing structural components, cables, and tubing assemblies.
  5. Using maintenance instructions and technical data for inspection and repair tasks.
  6. Performing advanced aircraft composite repairs and corrosion inspections.
  7. Applying protective coatings and managing paint requirements.
  8. Ensuring aircraft structural integrity through shop and flight line maintenance.
  9. Coordinating maintenance efforts and documenting discrepancies in the Maintenance Information System.
  10. Adhering to safety, housekeeping, tool control, and FOD prevention programs.
  11. Working various shifts and traveling as required.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of aircraft structural repair procedures and corrosion control techniques.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; interpret technical data.
  • Completion of specialized aircraft structural repair courses.
  • Physical ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs., and required training including respirator, confined space, and CPR.
  • Minimum three years recent structural experience preferred.
  • FAA Airframe license required.
  • High School diploma or GED; ability to obtain security clearance and driver’s license.
