Job description

Description: Services, repairs, and overhauls aircraft to ensure airworthiness. Repairs involve replacing and rebuilding aircraft structures of moderate difficulty, such as wings, fuselage, surface controls, and functional components including rigging, plumbing, and hydraulic units, utilizing hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet guns, and drills. Reads and interprets manufacturer's publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Inspects airframe components for fluid leaks, cracks, and other damage. Troubleshoots, removes, replaces, and repairs aircraft structural and hydraulic system components. Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft systems. As required by site operations and management, be certified as a CDI. Must be able to correctly prioritize workload to maintain schedules and uphold maintenance standards on assigned projects.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • The candidate must include Military VMET or JST with application to be considered (if prior military).
  • Must have completed the Navy Class "C" school in airframe and hydraulic repair for the specific T/M/S aircraft, or have five years of organizational level experience on the applicable T/M/S aircraft, which may substitute for the Class "C" school.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in organizational-level airframes/hydraulics maintenance on similar T/M/S aircraft.
  • Three (3) years experience in the specific T/M required/Series aircraft is preferred, with at least two (2) years within the last three years.
  • Engine turn qualified and Auxiliary Power Unit personnel should be at least Level II mechanics. May need to become Plane Captain certified for each T/M/S aircraft background.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be eligible for and able to maintain a secret clearance.

Duties: Maintain and service the applicable aircraft airframe and hydraulic systems/components supporting Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 31 RDT&E Programs, following applicable publications and instructions.

Salary: $48.63 per hour.
