Aircraft Mechanic II (Airframes) (Finance)

Job Title: Aircraft Mechanic II (Airframes)

Location: Camp Pendleton HMLAT 303

Task Description:

Aircraft Mechanics II must have experience in repairing engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty to meet assigned missions. They provide input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD), and assist in recommending changes to Maintenance Work Orders (MWO). They must prioritize workloads, lead teams through complex aircraft tasks, and perform inspections. Responsibilities include maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures and components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical parts. They interpret technical documentation and troubleshoot aircraft systems, requiring broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications, electrical theory, and the use of specialized tools. They may also make entries in aircraft logs and records, and specialize in areas like sheet-metal, electric work, or avionics.

Skill and Knowledge:

Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and perform organizational level maintenance. Specialties include Airframe/Structural, Corrosion Control, Landing Gear, Wing/Pylon Fold, Hydraulic/Pneumatic, and Mechanical Flight Control Systems.

Responsibility:

Perform maintenance per established procedures, including diagnosis, repair, disassembly, inspection, evaluation, and modifications. Verify work and determine necessary repairs or replacements.

Task Requirements:
  • Perform aircraft maintenance functions at the Line, Corrosion Control, and Organizational levels
  • Support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for H-1 aircraft
  • Conduct daily turn-around inspections and launch/recovery operations
  • Inspect, repair, modify, and maintain aircraft and aeronautical equipment
  • Document maintenance actions appropriately
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in flight surfaces, controls, and hydraulic systems
  • Use hand tools, power tools, test measurement, and diagnostic equipment
  • Read and interpret technical manuals and data
  • Perform confined space operations, support equipment inspections, aircraft movement, and corrosion control
  • Ensure workspace safety and organization
  • Support shift work and perform various inspections and requisitions as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five or more years' H-1 rotary wing experience
  • Seven or more years' rotary wing maintenance experience
  • Familiarity with NAVAIR IETMS and NALCOMIS/OOMA
  • Additional qualifications in corrosion control, hydraulic systems, APU, aircraft jacking, or previous CDQAR certification
Basic Qualifications:
  • Individual Aircraft Maintenance Qualification
  • Three years aviation maintenance experience
  • Ability to work shifts, pass background checks, and obtain necessary security clearances
  • Physical ability to climb ladders and handle small parts
  • Willingness to deploy for off-station exercises
Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly rate: $42.30

Additional health and welfare benefit: $6.25/hour up to 40 hours/week
