Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic to perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing of our aircraft on-site in Lancaster, CA. You will follow FAA/Company procedures, support the Tool Control Program, and ensure safety and readiness in a high tempo environment.

The role requires six years of heavy maintenance experience, a state–issued driver’s license, and the ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance. FAA A&P certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum six (6) years of heavy aircraft maintenance or flightline ops in high-tempo environments.
  • Experience with KC-46 aircraft preferred.
  • Ability to read and apply maintenance manuals and blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and servicing of aircraft.
  • Adhere to Technical Orders, SOPs, I nstructions and site directives.
  • Provide on-the-job training and sign-off training records.
  • Order parts through Air Force supply system and maintain supply discipline.
  • Complete maintenance documentation prior to shift end.

Job description

Purpose and Scope:

Performs inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on assigned aircraft.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Adheres to all Technical Orders, GOPs/SOPs, Air Force Instructions, and any other directives identified by Site Management or the PWS.
  • Perform launch, recovery, scheduled and unscheduled inspections/maintenance.
  • Preflight/thru flight/BPO inspections, ground handling, minor maintenance, and servicing.
  • Perform routine troubleshooting, installation, repair and maintenance of all systems and components on the aircraft at the organizational level of maintenance.
  • Services aircraft. Performs end-of-runway, post-flight, preflight, thru-flight, and phase inspections.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment. Removes and installs aircraft components.
  • Performs inspections, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the company aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer and company maintenance manuals and procedures.
  • Provides OJT to other Mechanics/Technicians, to include signing off training records in accordance with the training/certification plan.
  • Assists in implementing the Tool Control Program and may be required to staff the Tool Room section to meet contract performance requirements.
  • Orders parts and equipment through the Air Force supply system and ensures supply discipline, categorizing orders in accordance with Air Force parts/supply/equipment urgency designators.
  • Completes assigned training requirements during prescribed timelines.
  • Operates vehicles on the flightline in accordance with local airfield driving requirements.
  • Notifies Shift Lead when aircraft are "crew ready" in accordance with timelines prescribed by the Shift Lead.
  • Conducts aircrew debriefs when assigned.
  • Services, operates, and maintains ground support equipment and performs interior and exterior cleaning of aircraft and work areas.
  • Completes aircraft forms and maintenance information systems documentation accurately, completing all documentation as soon as practical, but always prior to the end of shift.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum six (6) years of heavy aircraft maintenance and/or hands-on flightline operations, real-time troubleshooting, and mission-critical aircraft turnaround in high-tempo environments.
  • Aircraft maintenance experience on KC-46 aircraft preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft servicing procedures, maintenance manuals, technical data, and parts catalogs, with the ability to apply them accurately under operational pressure to ensure safety, compliance, and readiness.
  • FAA Airframe, Powerplant, or Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred.
  • Must read, interpret and use manufacturers and aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, wiring/schematic diagrams, data tables and other specifications to determine feasibility and method to repair or replace malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Must have a current state issued drivers license.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. NOTE: U.S. citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work site.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
  • Must possess the ability to carry and lift overhead up to 50 pounds.
  • Duties include walking, climbing, standing, stooping, stretching, and squatting for purposes of moving equipment, boarding and de-boarding the aircraft, performing maintenance using ladders, and performing maintenance atop and below aircraft.
  • Work is primarily performed outside in a high-level noise environment.
  • Performing maintenance in low-light areas, operating support equipment after daylight hours. Work is occasionally performed in inclement weather.
Compensation Details:

$53.00 per hour
