Aircraft Mechanic I (Propulsion/Engine and Fuel Systems)

Amentum is seeking a qualified Aircraft Mechanic I, specializing in Propulsion/Engine and Fuel Systems with EA-18G experience, to support U.S. Naval Air Station maintenance operations at NAS Whidbey Island. The role involves repairing engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical systems.

Responsibilities include:
  • Performing repairs on aircraft following instructions from higher graded workers.
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft systems such as structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, engines, and more.
  • Repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft structures and components using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Reading and interpreting technical manuals and data to determine repair methods.
  • Maintaining aircraft by servicing engines and airframe components, performing inspections, and ensuring safety and functionality.
  • Supervising aircraft jacking and towing, documenting work, and verifying completion.
  • Possibly obtaining FAA licensing and specializing in specific aircraft systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; three years of related experience.
  • Three years of experience with F/A-18E/F or EA-18G aircraft.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex malfunctions.
  • Inspection and certification skills for aircraft/engine logs.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain necessary certifications and clearances, including US citizenship.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Work is performed in various settings including hangars, flight lines, and shipboard environments, with exposure to noise, fumes, weather, and physical hazards. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds and working in tiring or uncomfortable positions.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Adherence to safety standards and participation in safety programs.
