Qualifications

Aircraft Mechanic I - Engines

The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions, rigs, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and systems. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing aircraft components such as landing gear, flight surfaces, controls, anti-icing, pneumatic, fuel, ventilation, heating, and cooling systems, utilizing technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose and restore equipment functionality. The role requires reading and interpreting maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and specifications to determine repair methods.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in aircraft engines, auxiliary power units, anti-icing, heating systems, and related systems.
  • Perform engine maintenance on APU, T56, and AE2100D3 engines according to Air Force C-130 standards, including engine removal, installation, and testing.
  • Conduct inspections, adjustments, rigging, and calibration of engines and propeller components for optimal efficiency.
  • Inspect engines and APUs for serviceability.
  • Knowledge of aircraft fuel and mechanical principles related to fuel systems.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, test equipment, and support machinery.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, diagrams, and schematics for repairs.
  • Basic knowledge of C-130J aircraft systems.
  • Thorough understanding of aircraft mechanical components, including hydraulics, structures, engines, and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, and dial indicators.
  • Proficient in documenting maintenance activities using AFTO 781 forms and the IMDS system.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet schedule requirements.
  • Competence in troubleshooting engine issues, electrical systems, and performing preflight, flight, and post-flight inspections.
  • Capability to perform aircraft servicing tasks like Lox, hydraulic, oil services, tire maintenance, and lubrication.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Security clearance.
Desired Skills:
  • Four years of experience on C-130 or P3 aircraft, T-56, AE2100D3 engines, and related propellers.
  • Experience as a 7-Level Aircraft Mechanic or equivalent advanced systems training.
  • Ability to perform engine runs to evaluate performance, if required.
