Responsibilities:

  • Assist with basic scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on F/A-18 structures, landing gear, brake assemblies, flight control mechanisms, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Remove and replace worn or damaged aircraft parts, including panels, fairings, seals, and hydraulic lines under close supervision.

  • Maintain cleanliness and order across the hangar floor, tool rooms, and surrounding structural work centers.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of military or commercial aviation structures/airframes experience, ideally working with military tactical jets or similar aviation platforms.
  • Basic understanding of the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent commercial/military aviation maintenance frameworks.
  • Basic familiarity with standard hand tools, riveting equipment, torque wrenches, and safety wire procedures.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance to access the airfield and military installation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of military aviation structural mechanic training (e.g., USN/USMC AM "A" school or equivalent) is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience maintaining F/A-18 Legacy or Super Hornet platforms.
  • Experience executing basic sheet metal or composite composite patch repairs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely lift and carry parts or toolkits weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical capability to bend, kneel, crawl, stand for prolonged periods, and maneuver in tight workspaces like cockpits or small access bays.
  • Comfort working at heights on maintenance stands and scaffolding.
