A leading company is seeking an Aircraft Structural Mechanic I to support U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance operations in Virginia Beach. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting aircraft structures and components. Candidates must have relevant experience and certifications, and be able to work under various conditions.
Amentum is immediately hiring qualified Aircraft Structural Mechanic I’s in support of U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance operations at NAS Oceana Virginia Beach, VA. VFA-106.
The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. Responsibilities include repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft structures and components, reading and interpreting technical manuals and data, performing inspections, and testing engines and systems. The mechanic may also supervise aircraft jacking and towing, document maintenance work, and perform line station repairs and modifications. FAA A&P License or completion of Navy Aviation Structural Mechanics AM “A” School is required, along with minimum five years of recent F/A-18 A-G aircraft maintenance experience. Additional qualifications include knowledge of special tools, ability to meet physical and security requirements, and the ability to work outdoors under various weather conditions. Shift work and possible detachments are required.

Self-motivated with minimal supervision, and relevant certifications such as Ramp Stamp, Tire & Wheel, Hydraulic Contamination, Tow Tractor, and others specific to aircraft maintenance and ground support equipment.
