Aircraft Mechanic I

The Aircraft Mechanic 1 will perform daily scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to ensure aircraft meet mission requirements. The role may also include managing flight schedules and daily flight line operations.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures and components using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Interpret manuals, technical data, and specifications to determine repair methods.
  • Perform various inspections, examine engines for damage, and test engine operation with testing equipment.
  • Replace or repair components such as generators, fuel controls, and engine gearboxes, including removing and reinstalling engines.
  • Conduct electrical system repairs, perform maintenance inspections, and service aircraft as needed.
  • Supervise aircraft jacking and towing, document maintenance work, and ensure aircraft safety and readiness.
  • Participate in FOD prevention, obtain Collateral Duty Inspector qualification, and adhere to all safety and environmental regulations.

Work Environment and Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintain safety culture, ensure quality standards, and comply with operational procedures.
  • Complete necessary qualification standards, including PQS and CDI certifications, within designated timeframes.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, with 3 years of H-60 aviation ordnance experience.
  • Obtain and maintain required certifications and licenses, including security clearances and driver’s license.
  • Prior U.S. Naval aircraft maintenance experience preferred.
