Standard Job Description

The Aircraft Mechanic performs testing, troubleshooting, cyclical & unscheduled maintenance, alterations, and modifications of aircraft. The work includes structures, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulics, engines, auxiliary power units, and ventilation & heating systems. Candidates are customarily required to maintain all occupational areas in FOD free and aviation standard cleanliness conditions. Duties will include crank case flushing, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, checking brakes, jacking & towing of aircraft, and servicing engines and airframe components. The occupation requires entries in maintenance records describing work performed, verifying satisfactory performance, and returning aircraft and aircraft documentation to a flightworthy status. The candidate will make determination of work completeness and system operating conformance by referring to inspection lists, technical orders, service bulletins, blueprints, manufacturing outline sheets, and engineering reports. Other related airworthiness compliance categories are established through USG doctrinal guidance, Federal Aviation Licensing, and engineering specifications. Candidates within this title regularly specialize in their respective field of experience for repairs, maintenance, modification, precision instruments, functional spare parts, and aircraft assemblies.

Basic Qualifications

The duties of this title will perform many task independently. The candidate will commonly assist or work within general instruction from higher rated employees in the environment.

  • Aircraft and system knowledge / expertise in one or more fields of specialization. Competent in the necessary testing equipment and tools related to areas of specialization. Proficient in operational checks, testing methodology, and aircraft technical guidance.
  • Performance and experience of modifications, cyclical & unscheduled maintenance, repairs, and rework.
Desired Skills

Demonstrated knowledge of operating principles and characteristics of complete aircraft or aircraft systems, including all specifications for final declaration of flight worthy and returning to service.

Pay Information
  • $33.50 - $33.50
