Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintains assigned aircraft in accordance with Navy, manufacturer, and company instructions.
- Responsible for all egress system on and off equipment maintenance on assigned squadron aircraft.
- Removes, transports, inspects, repairs, and reinstalls ejection seats. Inspects, repairs, and cleans seat harnesses.
- Inventories, stores, removes, and replaces seat CAD/PAD explosive items.
- Maintains environmental system on assigned squadron aircraft.
- Maintains, inspects canopy explosive devices.
- Maintains and inspects onboard oxygen generating system (OBOGS).
- Performs scheduled/unscheduled aircraft on and off equipment maintenance.
- Performs aircraft corrosion control procedures including wash, wipe down, polish, and vacuum.
- Operates GSE, flight line vehicles, and other support equipment as required.
- Supervises/assists in aircraft/equipment movement and foreign object prevention walks on the flight line.
- Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
- Complies with all sections of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series applicable to aircraft maintenance and ALSS.
- Uses technical publications, NAMP, and NALCOMIS aircraft maintenance applications effectively.
Other or Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Qualified on ground support equipment relevant to the specialty.
- Capable of conducting on-the-job training and maintaining seat/cockpit safety checkout records for contractor personnel.
- Experienced in removal and replacement of ejection seats, canopies, and explosive devices at both 'I' and 'O' levels, including rigging of explosive linkages/devices.
- Ability to perform flow checks on egress systems.
- Good interpersonal skills for professional interactions.
- Knowledge of environmental control systems at 'I' and 'O' levels.
- Deep understanding of aircraft safety directives and technical orders, including reading schematics and diagrams.
- Knowledge of flight line operations, safety hazards, and vehicle movement.
- Proficient with computer data entry and extraction.
- Familiar with aircraft tools and test equipment.
- Possess a valid US State driver's license and ability to obtain a Government flight line driver's license.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Experience & Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from a military or factory ejection seat course.
- Completion of the appropriate T/M/S Navy Skill Specialty Class 'C' school for AME or USMC, USCG equivalent.
- Experience in fitting and rigging aircraft canopy and related mechanisms, both at 'I' and 'O' levels.
- 2-4 years' relevant aircraft/system experience; 4 years preferred.
Physical Requirements / Working Environment:
- Work may be in hangar or outside, often in extreme weather and noisy environments.
- Exposure to fumes, electrical hazards, mechanical parts, and moving vehicles.
- Must be able to walk, climb, crouch, handle objects, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Visual and auditory acuity required for detailed inspections and communication.
