Job description

This AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (ACCELERATED HIRE) position is located within a National Guard aircraft maintenance organization and is part of the CA JFHQ SAO.

This is an open until filled announcement. The announcement will be posted until all positions have been filled. Applications will be reviewed every 30 days, and you will receive an email regarding your application status when reviewed.

Requirements

CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a supported unit. Military technicians must hold the specified military grade for the position.

Priority Areas of Consideration:

Priority consideration is given in the following order:

  • AREA I= Current California National Guard employees on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment.
  • AREA II= Current California National Guard members.
  • AREA III= Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Reserve, or Active Duty. Applicants outside the CNG must join a compatible unit prior to federal assignment.

Military Grades: E-1 through E-9

Recruitment/Relocation

Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized, subject to funding and approval.

PCS

Relocation Costs MAY be authorized, subject to regulations and approval.

Must maintain security clearance, wear military uniform, participate in direct deposit, and meet grooming standards.

Security Clearance: at least a National Agency Check.

Qualifications

General Experience: Experience or training in removing and replacing aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and making adjustments per specifications; skilled in hand tools and test equipment.

AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (ACCELERATED HIRE), WG-8852-05 (Trainee): At least 6 months experience with hand tools in mechanical repairs under supervision; capable of performing routine duties.

AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (ACCELERATED HIRE), WG-8852-08 (Trainee): At least 12 months experience with hand tools, removing/installing aircraft parts, following detailed instructions for routine repairs.

AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (ACCELERATED HIRE), WG-8852-10: At least 18 months experience in installing, adjusting, troubleshooting, and testing aircraft systems; coordinating work; instructing lower graded mechanics.

TRAINEE POSITION: Applicants not fully qualified for WG-10 may be considered for WG-05 or WG-08 trainee positions. Promotion possible upon meeting full qualifications.
