UPS is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Training Instructor to support FAA regulatory compliance and UPS flight readiness. The role combines classroom and hangar environments to deliver technical training on aircraft systems and avionics for UPS personnel and external vendors.

The ideal candidate holds an FAA A&P license, has prior aircraft maintenance experience, and can travel domestically and internationally.

  • Indirectly supervise Aircraft Maintenance Technicians and training participants.
  • Maintain safety and compliance documentation for training activities.

Job Summary

The Aircraft Maintenance Training Instructor works in an office and Aircraft Maintenance Hangar environment. He/She fulfills Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements for aviation, maintenance, and technical education to maintain compliance of Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) 121 certification for UPS Aircraft Maintenance personnel. The ACMX Training Instructor will assist in maintaining the safe operation of UPS aircraft and dispatch reliability on aircraft systems, avionics, and engines. This position provides technical training to various groups in the airline and to external vendors The Aircraft Maintenance Training Instructor trains on various aircraft (e.g., B747-400, B757, B767, MD-11, A300, Avionics and Systems, etc.) The purpose of such training is to ensure greater efficiency and effectiveness in aircraft maintenance. This position indirectly supervises Aircraft Maintenance Technicians and technical aircraft training class participants.

Required Skills
  • Current and valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant License.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Must have previous aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Must be able to work various shifts covering 7x24.
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Virtual Technology Experience.
  • Experience with Video Editing.
  • Previous experience teaching aircraft maintenance courses in a classroom setting.
Interpersonal Skills

Must be able to communicate effectively and in a concise manner both written and verbal. Use appropriate style, level of detail, grammar, and organization of thought in technical writing of specialized or technical documents. Must have a high level of attention to detail. Must have a positive attitude and work well in a team environment. Must be dependable and a self-starter and display initiative in all areas. Must be able to prioritize workload to meet time sensitive deadlines. Must be capable of quickly learning unfamiliar aircraft fleet types to effectively train Aircraft Maintenance Technicians.

Federal Aviation Administration Required Drug Testing Information (FAA)

As part of the UPS pre-employment process for a safety sensitive position, a drug screen is required. UPS Must receive a negative test result before you can be put into a safety sensitive position (14 CFR Part 120.107). Please be advised that you will be tested in accordance with 14 CFR Part 120.109(a)(5) and 14 CFR 120 Subpart E to determine the presence of marijuana, cocaine, opiates (including codeine, heroin-6AM, morphine), opioids-hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxycodone & oxymorphone, phencyclidine (PCP), and amphetamines/methamphetamines (including MDMA, MDA) or metabolites of these drugs.
