Job summary

The Rural Metro Fire Department is seeking a Float Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) to ensure the maintenance and safety of our fleet. This position will focus on maintaining our EC135 airframe within Med-Trans.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of turbine helicopter maintenance experience and possess a valid A&P license. We offer an attractive starting salary ranging from $65,239 to $113,480 annually, alongside a float stipend, sign-on bonus, and an equal opportunity work environment.

• Starting Salary: $65,239 - $113,480 annually
• Float Stipend: $12,500
• IA Stipend: $2,080
• Sign-On Bonus: $12,500

We’re hiring a Float Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) responsible for the overall maintenance and safety of our fleet within Med-Trans. This technician will be qualified to support our EC135 airframe and play a key role in ensuring our team can safely maintain and deliver timely, high‑quality transportation services to patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance services including mechanical inspections, screening, repairs, and provide regular status updates to the Lead Technician.
• Manage inventory checks to ensure a stock of supplies and equipment, regularly update the equipment tracking log, place replacement requests, and document part expenditures.
• Clearly document service paperwork and FAA information as required, adhering to policies and procedures while complying with the company’s information security standards.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment for the aircraft maintenance team and flight crew.
• Use appropriate communication methods to facilitate coordination between departments, vendors, and team members.
• Work collaboratively and professionally with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as fellow AMTs and the operations team.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• EC135 Maintenance experience
• Three (3) years of turbine helicopter maintenance experience, with a minimum of six months helicopter maintenance experience during the last 24 months
• Valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license
• Valid state‑issued Driver’s license
• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations
• Experience with EMS systems, aircraft maintenance systems, records and maintenance support, and planning
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including overtime and 24/7 on‑call rotations
• Acceptable in accordance with the FAA drug and alcohol testing program
• Must be able to push and/or pull 100+ lbs.
• Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• FAA Inspection Authorization Certification
• Related experience under CFR Part 135
• Autopilot maintenance experience
• Avionics and electrical repair experience
