Job summary

West Star is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Technician to work in a hangar environment on civilian aircraft, performing maintenance, inspections, and component work. You will troubleshoot systems, perform engine work, and assist with taxiing and performance runs, in a fast-paced setting.

Ideal candidates hold a High School diploma or equivalent and an Airframe and Powerplant license; a valid driver’s license is a plus. Team-orientated, safety-conscious professionals are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
  • Removal and installation of panels and components.
  • Troubleshooting and solving aircraft system issues.
  • De-fueling aircraft.
  • Engine removal/installation.
  • Operate ground support equipment.
  • Inspect and evaluate aircraft and components.
  • Assist with runway operations and performance runs.

Whether you are replacing or repairing parts, troubleshooting electrical/mechanical/hydraulic and pneumatic systems or performing inspections on some of the most sophisticated civilian aircraft in the world, no day is the same. You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:
  • Performing general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
  • Removal and installation of panels and components,
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving aircraft system/component issues
  • De-fueling aircraft,
  • Engine removal/installations,
  • Operating ground support equipment,
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components
  • Aircraft movement and assistance in performance runs/ taxiing
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling
  • Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
What you’ll need to bring with you:
Your Education:

AHigh school diploma or equivalent, and Airframe and Powerplant License are required. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Initiative:

We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.

Your Sense of Responsibility:

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.

Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.

Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.

Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.

Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.

Maintain customer oriented work habits.

Other particulars:
Physical Requirements

Lifts 50 lbs.

Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.

Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.

Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas

Standing for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements

Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.

Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.

Work with others in a professional manner.

Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance.

May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.

Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.

Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.

Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.

Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
