Job description

Minimum Hiring Annual Salary

$53,040.00

$57,284.00

To attain the maximum annual salary, employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:

  • 5 (five) years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience.
  • A combination of related education, on-the-job work experience, certifications and/or licenses that results in a candidate successfully meeting the minimum qualifications of the position, may be considered.

The stated salary amounts are not guaranteed in the event employment ends with Aims during any fiscal year.

Job Description

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician II is responsible for conducting aircraft maintenance in support of Aims Community College’s Aviation Department. This role adheres to Federal Aviation regulations and guidelines related to aircraft airworthiness. The position supports the Aviation Department within the Public Safety, Education, and Transportation Division, and is located at Northern Colorado Regional Airport in Loveland, Colorado.

This position entails engaging in assignments and co-curricular activities that align with Aims' philosophy and goals. It involves participation in scholarly and creative activities, as well as professional development and service to the college. Ensuring that all duties and responsibilities are performed safely and efficiently.

Aircraft Maintenance and Technical Execution
  • Perform scheduled aircraft inspections, as well as unscheduled maintenance, in accordance with approved maintenance manuals, manufacturer service publications, and all applicable federal regulations with a strong emphasis on aircraft safety, airworthiness, personnel safety, and quality workmanship.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, operational checks, servicing, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of airframe, powerplant, propeller, electrical, and avionics systems.
  • Perform precise operational and functional checks following maintenance actions to verify proper system operation and ensure all discrepancies have been properly corrected.
  • Identify potential safety, reliability, and maintenance concerns during routine work and communicate them to the Director, Aircraft Maintenance before they develop into operational issues.
  • Research and investigate possible solutions to engine, airframe, and associated appliance malfunctions. Support aircraft recovery and troubleshooting efforts when operational or maintenance issues occur outside normal working hours, off-site locations, and as assigned.
  • Assist with aircraft cleaning and ensure aircraft interiors and exteriors are maintained in a clean, orderly, and serviceable condition.
Documentation and Compliance
  • Complete accurate and detailed aircraft maintenance records, including composing and signing aircraft logbook entries and other required internal documentation.
  • Ensure all maintenance records accurately reflect work performed, parts installed or removed, inspections accomplished, corrective actions taken, and aircraft status in accordance with applicable FARs.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of aircraft hours, inspection intervals, component life limits, and scheduled maintenance items for assigned aircraft.
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation for component traceability, ensuring parts tags match the maintenance history before installation.
General Maintenance and Facility Support
  • Assist with the inspection, troubleshooting, servicing, preventive maintenance, and repair of ground support equipment, including aircraft tugs, jacks, utility vehicles, and ladders.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe hangar facilities, including aircraft maintenance areas, workspaces, tool areas, parts storage, and general facility upkeep.
  • Maintain shared aircraft maintenance tools, test equipment, and specialized tooling in clean, organized, and serviceable condition.
  • Support special projects, aircraft modifications, maintenance improvement initiatives, and audits as dictated by operational requirements.
Other Duties as Assigned
  • One (1) year of operational general aviation aircraft maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate (or be able to obtain within 12 months of hire).
  • This position requires the use of a company vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment post-offer urine analysis.
  • A pre-employment post-offer physical evaluation will be required of the selected candidate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Aviation, Engineering, Education, or another related field; plus, two (2) years operational general aviation aircraft fleet maintenance experience.
  • Aircraft Mechanics who hold an Inspection Authorization.
  • High level of trade specific computer skills.
  • Experience in risk management and mitigation.
