Job description

Position Summary

The Los Rios Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part-time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position. This position is filled on an as-needed basis through an ongoing recruitment effort. Applicants are contacted and hired year-round based on college needs. This pool remains open continuously and is refreshed every two years.

Note: Applicants in this pool will remain active for two years. After this period, applicants will receive an email with instructions on how to remain in the pool.

The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for:

1. Teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean.
2. Helping students fulfill their potential in mastering course content.
3. Assessing student learning outcomes.
4. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge in their teaching field.
5. Continuing professional development.
6. Utilizing current technology in job duties.
7. Maintaining professional conduct and ethics.
8. Assisting with articulation, curriculum development, and review.
9. Serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance, including accreditation and co-curricular activities.
10. Performing other duties as assigned by the area dean.

Additionally, the adjunct faculty member will work closely with the Department Chair to ensure programs comply with FAA regulations and maintain necessary documentation.

Position Salary Information

Initial maximum salary placement depends on academic degree, upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional experience, as per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract. The initial maximum placement is Class V, Step 1. For more details, click here.

The instructional assignment may include teaching courses across all levels in this discipline, such as:

• AMTP 200 - Certificated Aircraft Mechanic Preparation
• AMTP 310 - Powerplant Theory and Maintenance Fundamentals - Reciprocating
• AMTP 311 - Powerplant Overhaul Applications - Reciprocating Engines
• AMTP 312 - Powerplant Theory - Turbine Engine Fundamentals

Minimum Qualifications

1. Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher with two years of experience as an FAA certificated aircraft mechanic; OR an associate degree with six years of experience, or the equivalent. Professional experience is required if holding a master's degree. All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by the time of hire.
2. Possess and maintain a current FAA Mechanic or Airframe and Powerplant certificate by the time of hire.
3. Demonstrate an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and foster an inclusive educational environment.
