Job summary

Pacific Coast Jet is seeking a Shop Manager to lead all daily maintenance operations on the hangar floor, directing a team of maintenance technicians and ensuring high-quality maintenance in compliance with the GOM and GMM. The role reports to the VP of Maintenance and is onsite.

You will plan workflows, supervise schedules, optimize processes, conduct performance reviews, manage parts procurement, and maintain records, while adhering to FAA drug and alcohol programs.

Qualifications

• FAA A&P license held and active.
• Minimum 5 years in Part 135/145 turbine-powered operations.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, regs and specs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office and scheduling tools.

Responsibilities

About the Role

The Shop Manager leads and manages all daily maintenance operations on the hangar floor. Working with Maintenance Management to set workflow and priority guidance, you'll provide oversight and direction for the Maintenance Technician team and ensure high-quality maintenance and regulatory compliance in accordance with the General Operating Manual (GOM) and General Maintenance Manual (GMM). This position reports to the VP of Maintenance.

This is an onsite, safety-sensitive position subject to testing under an FAA-mandated drug and alcohol program.

What You'll Do

• Direct management and supervision of all shop floor staff
• Overall supervision of all workflows, including scheduling and work assignments
• Plan, direct, lay out, and coordinate Maintenance Department activities to minimize delays and increase production and efficiency
• Continually optimize workflow, improve efficiency, and maximize shop organization
• Conduct quarterly conversations and annual performance reviews

Planning & Coordination

• Plan and coordinate daily, weekly, monthly, and unscheduled maintenance activities
• Schedule and coordinate project retrieval with customers
• Provide rapid response and deployment for aircraft on ground (AOG) maintenance support as needed
• Regularly attend safety and departmental meetings with the Director of Maintenance

Training & Standards

• Train new technicians on PCJ systems and procedures
• Train and assist team members in proper procedures, methods, and practices for each duty
• Ensure assigned personnel follow all quality, safety, and security procedures
• Ensure all in-house training requirements are met
• Perform work in compliance with company policies, procedures, and FAA regulations while demonstrating the highest standards of workmanship

Records, Parts & Facilities

• Ensure the responsible mechanic properly executes all required work records
• Ensure proper documentation and recording of all maintenance performed on company aircraft
• Perform parts procurement, including verification of part authenticity, documentation, shipping/receiving, and inventory management
• Conduct hangar/shop facilities maintenance and inspections as required
• Maintain all company GSE as directed
• Own and report shop KPIs

What You Bring

• FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Part 135/145 turbine-powered aircraft operations
• Ability to read and understand company manuals, Federal Aviation Regulations, Operations Specifications, and aircraft flight/maintenance manuals
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, etc.)
• Scheduling flexibility to work overtime given a constantly changing flight schedule and unscheduled maintenance demands
• Ability to occasionally travel to off-site maintenance events and repair facilities to provide oversight of company aircraft

• Tube and fabric aircraft experience

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

• Ability to pass a background screening and pre-employment drug screening
• Valid driver's license
• Constant physical activity including bending and reaching, with prolonged periods of sitting in aircraft cockpits
• Ability to occasionally lift 50 pounds vertically through 4 feet and maneuver that load at arm's length
• Ability to work from ladders and other equipment, and while kneeling, for extended periods
• Ability to work on an exposed aircraft parking ramp in rain and wind
