Job summary

Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ seeks an Aircraft Maintenance Instructor (Part-Time) to deliver FAA Part 147-aligned instruction and hands-on training to aspiring AMTs.

No prior teaching experience is required—we offer a 5-day paid instructor training program to help you transition from the hangar to the classroom. Earn $40 per hour with evening shifts Monday through Thursday.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in aviation or related field preferred.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Experience as an A&P Mechanic or Aircraft Mechanic is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach FAA Part 147-aligned curriculum in a hands-on environment.
  • Deliver instruction to prepare students for A&P certification.
  • Demonstrate practical aircraft maintenance skills used by AMTs.
  • Maintain records of attendance, grades, and student progress.

About the Role

As an Aircraft Maintenance Instructor (A&P Mechanic Instructor), you will deliver FAA Part 147-aligned aviation maintenance curriculum and provide hands‑on instruction to students preparing for careers as aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs).

This role is ideal for experienced A&P mechanics, aircraft mechanics, and aviation maintenance professionals who want to combine technical expertise with mentorship and training while delivering hands‑on aviation maintenance instruction in classroom and active hangar environments.

Schedule Options

  • Option 2: Evening shift: Monday - Thursday ~3:30 pm - 11:30 pm EST

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach aircraft maintenance systems, procedures, and techniques in a hands‑on environment
  • Deliver FAA-aligned curriculum to prepare students for A&P certification
  • Demonstrate practical skills used by A&P mechanics and aviation technicians
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
  • Support curriculum updates and collaborate with program leadership
  • Help create a structured, engaging, and safety‑focused learning environment
  • Maintain classroom, lab equipment, and training materials

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience

  • Background as an A&P Mechanic,AircraftMechanic, or Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT)

Licensure
