Title: Aviation Pathways, A & P (Airframe & Powerplant) Program Instructor – Aircraft Maintenance Instructor

Reports to: Senior Manager, Aviation Pathways A & P Program

Classification: Full-time; Part-Time, and On-Call Instructors

Compensation: Full-time: Schedule aligned “closely” with HI DOE school calendar (Currently August – June). Part‑time, On‑Call: Non‑Exempt/hourly; hourly rate varies based on schedule, qualifications and experience (Range from $39.50 – $55.75 per hour)

Summary of Position

Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum (PHAM) is seeking qualified and dedicated Full‑Time, Part‑Time, and On‑Call Aviation Maintenance Instructors at our FAA Part 147‑approved campus. You will impact local students by imparting core competencies in mechanical knowledge, tooling, and Federal Aviation Regulations. You will guide students in inspection techniques, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft engines, systems, and structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide engaging and effective teaching in aircraft maintenance principles that align with industry standards and FAA regulations.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and progress records.
• Onboard and train new instructors.
• Ensure all instructional activities are conducted safely and in compliance with the Operations Manual.
• Assist in maintaining training aids, tooling, and shop equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

• Current FAA A&P Certificate.
• 3 or more years of aircraft maintenance experience.
• Strong command of theoretical and practical aspects of aircraft maintenance, including reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal skills, problem‑solving abilities, adaptability, and a commitment to safety and quality.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Google products.
• Comfortable using technology for instruction and student tracking.
• Able to pass a background check and pre‑employment drug screening.
• Able to lift 50 pounds and work around aircraft in various positions.
• Comfortable with presenting/public speaking.

Preferred:

• Prior teaching experience in aviation maintenance or related fields.
• Experience with reciprocating and turbine engines.
• Advanced sheet metal experience.
• Advanced avionics/electrical experience.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $80,000 – $90,000 annually, aligned “closely” with HI DOE school calendar (Currently August – June).
• Part‑time, On‑Call: Hourly rate varies based on schedule, qualifications, and experience (Current range from $39.50 – $55.75 per hour).
