Are you ready to put your experience to work? If so, Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Aircraft Low Observables Mechanic 3. The selected candidate will join our team of qualified, diverse individuals, and will be supporting the B-2 modification team at Whiteman AFB, Mo. This position requires a security clearance, so an active clearance is preferred, but a clearance request will be submitted for the selected candidate if necessary. The nature of this position requires individuals to be comfortable working in a classified environment; cell phones and personal electronic devices are prohibited within these areas.

Your duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  1. Responsible for all aircraft low observable outer mold line structures, materials, and applications.
  2. Prepares composite or metallic surfaces for coating applications by performing various operations such as sanding, stripping, applying vacuum, performing porosity testing, masking, and other preparation tasks.
  3. Mixes and applies sealants, gap fillers and any other required processes prior to paint which may require the use of heating devices.
  4. Mixes and applies paints and other coatings at the proper spraying consistency and brush/roller application.
  5. Applies additional surface details to manufacturer specifications.
  6. Verifies application/condition of installed LO materials for conformity to specifications and determines material required to perform repairs.
  7. Sets up and operates various types of material testers and mixers.
  8. Must obtain and maintain qualifications as directed by supervisor.

The selected candidate must be willing to work various shifts depending on business needs, including, but not limited to: 1st shift 0630 – 1500, 2nd shift 1430 – 2300 and overtime when required.

Basic Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of aircraft Low Observables experience.
  2. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals.
  3. Able to meet the physical demands of this position, including: regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive movements, work overhead, use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist.
  4. Must be able to pass a physical/respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements.
  5. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). Secret clearance is required prior to starting.
  6. Must be able to obtain required Program Access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet business needs.
  7. Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include second shift, extended shifts, weekends, and occasional holidays to support modification team work.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Active DOD Secret Clearance with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 6 years.
  2. Completion of A&P certificate program or Associates degree in an applicable field.
  3. Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to work with others at all levels of the organization.
  4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  5. Willingness to meet customer needs.
  6. Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence.

Salary Range: $52,900.00 - $88,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
