• Must have relevant experience working in depot, MRO, or OEM environments.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• A&P Certification a plus.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active Secret or Higher Clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned aircraft modification projects and coordinate with engineering, program management, depot/MRO teams, OEM partners, and customers.
• Independently coordinate modification planning, kit deliveries, technical data packages, and installation sequencing.
• Track engineering redlines, TDs, SBs, and retrofit directives.
• Provide on-site engineering oversight during induction, modification execution, testing, and return-to-service.
• Interface between engineering and field/depot personnel to clarify instructions and resolve discrepancies.

Impact Summary

The Aircraft Field Modification Lead serves as the primary interface between engineering, project management, depot maintenance activities, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partners, and customer stakeholders to ensure the successful planning and execution of aircraft modification projects. The Aircraft Field Modification Lead is responsible for synchronizing technical data, installation sequencing, material readiness, and aircraft induction schedules to support efficient and compliant modification execution. This position requires long term modification site coordination in Wichita, KS, with potential travel to alternate modification facilities, depots, OEM locations, and customer sites to provide coordination and technical support.

The Aircraft Field Modification Lead works closely with engineering teams to translate modification designs and technical data packages into executable installation plans. The Aircraft Field Modification Lead will support clarification of installation instructions, facilitates resolution of technical discrepancies, and ensures redlines and as-built configurations are properly captured and documented. Acting as a bridge between the design authority and execution, the liaison helps prevent schedule delays by identifying integration risks early, escalating issues appropriately, and supporting corrective action planning.

The Aircraft Field Modification Lead will also support logistics coordination and parts management associated with aircraft maintenance and modification efforts. This includes tracking modification kits, long-lead components, and government or contractor furnished equipment to ensure material availability aligns with aircraft induction and delivery schedules. This position will work closely with supply chain, procurement, and warehouse teams to monitor part status, resolve shortages, manage backorders, and mitigate supply risks that could impact schedule performance. This position requires validation of part numbers, configuration applicability, and revision alignment to ensure installation teams receive the correct hardware, wiring, structural components, and avionics equipment. In addition, the Aircraft Field Modification Lead will oversee inventory reconciliation, discrepancy reporting, and documentation of consumed materials to maintain configuration control and accurate as-built records.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned aircraft modification projects, acting as the primary interface between engineering design authority, program management, depot/Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) execution teams, OEM partners, and customer representatives.
• Independently coordinate modification planning, kit deliveries, technical data packages, and installation sequencing.
• Track Engineering redlines, Technical Directives, Service Bulletins, and retrofit directives.
• Provide on-site engineering oversight and expertise during aircraft induction, modification execution, functional test, and return-to-service activities.
• Interface between engineering teams and field/depot personnel to clarify installation instructions and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate redlines, as-built configuration updates, and discrepancy reports.
• Support configuration management in accordance with program and regulatory requirements.
• Validate part numbers, effectively, configuration applicability, and revision alignment prior to installation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable FAA, Department of War (DoW), OEM, and airworthiness standards.
• Provide advanced, real-time technical analysis and professional judgment to engineering and project leadership.
• Travel to modification sites as required to:
• Monitor installation progress
• Support troubleshooting and technical issue resolution
• Facilitate cross-functional coordination meetings
• Verify installation compliance with drawings and technical directives

• Field/Depot Operations Familiarity: Working knowledge of depot-level maintenance environments, MRO processes, production workflows, and aircraft modification execution constraints.
• Professional Customer Engagement: Represent the program and engineering authority professionally when interfacing with government customers, OEM partners, and senior leadership, maintaining credibility and technical confidence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aviation Maintenance Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 10+ years of experience supporting DoW aircraft modification, sustainment, or integration programs.
• Advanced knowledge of aircraft systems (e.g., avionics, electrical, Environmental Control System (ECS), propulsion, and structures).
• Familiarity with technical data interpretation (drawings, wiring diagrams, installation instructions).
• Must have relevant experience working in depot, MRO, or OEM environments.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Airframes and Powerplants (A&P) Certification a plus.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active Secret or Higher Clearance preferred.

Travel

• Ability to travel as required to support system modification, installation, and fielding activities at modification facilities, depot locations, OEM locations, and other program support sites. Travel frequency will vary depending on program needs.

Salary Information

The estimated salary rage for this position is $124,800 - $156,000 annually based on the successful candidates experience, qualifications, skill set, work location, and market conditions. Pay and Benefits are subject to change at any time and may be modified at the discretion of the company.
