Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in the United States seeks an experienced Certification Engineer to develop certification plans, compliance checklists, and conformity inspection plans for aircraft modifications. The role involves preparing substantiation reports and test plans for flammability and cabin safety, coordinating with suppliers, and interfacing with FAA regulators to address airworthiness concerns.

Candidates should have a B.S.

Qualifications

• Four to seven years of engineering experience; internships and co-ops may count.
• Must possess knowledge of aircraft certification processes and substantiation techniques.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office.
• Familiar with aircraft mechanical/structural design, materials, fabrication methods and aerospace hardware.
• Organized and an effective individual contributor with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop certification plans and conformity inspection plans.
• Develop substantiation reports and test plans/reports for flammability and cabin safety.
• Draft certification presentations for meetings and manage small STC/PMA projects including data deliverables and coordinating responses to inquiries and airworthiness concerns.
• Identify applicable airworthiness requirements for proposed major design changes.
• Support relationships with FAA regulatory agencies via project presentations.
• Interface with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders pertaining to certification of modification projects.

Job description

• 1. B.S. in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related scientific field strongly preferred.
• 2. Four (4) to seven (7) years overall work experience in an engineering role. Engineering internships and Co-op assignments may be applied to experience requirements.
• 3. Must possess some knowledge of aircraft certification processes and substantiation techniques.
• 4. Must have strong computer skills and demonstrate proficiency with MS Office programs.
• 5. Must be familiar with aircraft mechanical/structural design processes, materials, fabrication methods and aerospace hardware.
• 6. Must be organized and an effective individual contributor, presenting good communication skills and a professional appearance.

Preferred:

• 7. Knowledge of aircraft interiors.
• 8. Experience as a certification engineer, design engineer, or substantiation engineer.

Responsibilities:

• 1. Develop certification plans, compliance checklists, conformity inspection plans
• 2. Develop substantiation reports and test plans / reports for flammability and cabin safety.
• 3. Draft certification presentations for all meetings and manage small STC / PMA projects for certification requirements including data deliverables from suppliers, and coordinating responses to inquiries, significant certification issues and airworthiness concerns.
• 4. Identify applicable airworthiness requirements for proposed major design changes.
• 5. Support the relationship with FAA regulatory agencies via project presentations.
• 6. Interface with customers, suppliers and other project stakeholders pertaining to certification of modification projects.
